Srinagar, Nov 21: National Conference senior (NC) leader and Member of Parliament (MP), Srinagar, Ruhullah Mehdi on Thursday said he will hold a sit-in protest if no decision is made on Jammu and Kashmir’s reservation policy by next month.
Mehdi responded to a social media post by an aspirant, which stated that there are only 26 per cent of jobs for 70 per cent open merit population.
Ruhullah assured the aspirants that he remains committed to the issue of rationalising the reservation policy and has raised the matter several times with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other officials.
“The delays in resolving the issue are due to confusion between the elected government and other administrative bodies,” he said.
The MLA asked for patience, saying the government is working on it. “If the issue is not resolved by December 22, I will join the aspirants in protesting outside the Chief Minister’s office,” Ruhullah said.
