Srinagar, Feb 22: Member of Parliament (MP) for Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah Mehdi has called for a campaign urging visitors to respect Kashmir’s environment and cultural values.
Sharing an image with a message titled “Dear Guests, Welcome to Paradise”, Ruhullah emphasised the importance of preserving the region’s serenity.
The poster requests visitors to avoid public intoxication, maintain cleanliness, and respect water bodies. Ruhullah in a statement said that while the message remains clear, a direct call for respect had been omitted, implying that respect should be mutual to hold meaning.
He urged Kashmiris to display the poster in public spaces and share it online, suggesting the campaign begin on the first day of Ramadan. “If any action is taken, know that I stand firmly with you, wherever it leads,” Ruhullah said.
The call has sparked discussions on social media, with many supporting the initiative as a way to safeguard Kashmir’s cultural and environmental integrity.
