MoU inked: IIM Jammu to open Transit Off-Campus in University of Ladakh

JAMMU, DEC 18: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Ladakh, for Academic Cooperation and Faculty Exchange, Joint Research, and other relevant areas of mutual interest. As part of the MoU, IIM Jammu will open a Transit Off-Campus in Ladakh at the University of Ladakh.
The MoU was signed by Prof B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, and Prof. S.K. Mehta, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Leh in presence of Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, Prof. Ashok Sharma, Registrar, Dr. Jigmet Stobdan, Assistant Professor of Commerce, Dr. Amjad Ali Abbasi, Principal GDC, Drass, University of Ladakh, and other faculty and administrative staff of both the Institutes.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu said, “Today is a historic day for IIM Jammu as the University of Ladakh has agreed to give space in the University of Ladakh Campus for the opening of the Transit Off-Campus in Leh.”
“We will open the Transit Off-Campus in Ladakh soon. Both institutions have agreed to work in the areas of academic development, promotion of entrepreneurship, executive education, skill development, organizing joint conferences, short-term education programmes, research, boot camps, and various other areas. The collaboration between both institutes will lead to meaningful outcomes in the interest of the stakeholders and lead to sustainable growth and development for the regions of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. S.K. Mehta, Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Leh said, “The collaboration with IIM Jammu will help us to develop our competence in many key areas.”
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu said that these collaborations will be helpful in fostering the advancement in teaching, research, cultural understanding as well as the reputation of both the institutes.
Prof. Ashok. K. Sharma, Registrar, University of Ladakh said that the signing of the MoU will open new doors for collaboration between both institutes on various key areas.
In addition, IIM Jammu and the University of Ladakh will collaborate with each other to offer courses and award certificates in the focus areas of mutual interest, jointly promote research in interdisciplinary areas, exchange information on teaching, learning material, and other literature relevant to their educational and research programs.
