Jammu, Dec 14: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ramgarh, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal flagged off the 100-Day TB Elimination Campaign at Primacy Health Centre Sanoora, Block Rajpura, Samba.
The event was attended by DDC Rajpura Asha Rani, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Samba Dr Vidhi Bhatial, BMO Nud Dr Richa, ZMO Sanoora Dr Ritika, and Mandal Pardhan Rajpura Kulbhushan Singh Jasrotia. The campaign, aimed at the entire Samba District, focuses on key goals such as increasing TB case detection, reducing delays in diagnosis, and improving treatment outcomes, particularly for high-risk groups, the MLA said in a statement issued here.
The initiative is part of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) and is aligned with recent policies like the Nikshay Poshan Yojana and Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which provide financial aid for TB patients and focus on identifying household contacts. The campaign also emphasizes modern diagnostics, with expanded access to advanced diagnostic tools, and focused screening of vulnerable populations at higher risk.
Targeted care for high-risk groups, including the elderly, diabetics, malnourished, smokers, alcoholics, and HIV patients, is a priority. Nutritional support is also being offered to improve treatment adherence and outcomes.
The initiative stresses “Jan-bhagidari” (public participation) to strengthen TB management efforts. The State TB Cell and CMO Samba expressed a commitment to identifying TB cases in high-risk groups, raising awareness, and ensuring early detection and treatment.
The Zonal Medical Officer of PHC Sanoora and the CMO Samba thanked the public and all stakeholders for their support, emphasizing the importance of community participation in reducing the TB burden and improving public health outcomes across the region.
Later, MLA Dr Manyal inspected the Government Higher Secondary School in Rajpura. During his visit, he interacted with students and provided valuable guidance to help enhance their academic and personal development.
