Kathua, June 9: Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh on Tuesday said that the past 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government have integrated Jammu and Kashmir into India’s mainstream development journey through decisive governance, infrastructure expansion and welfare initiatives.
Addressing a public outreach programme and welfare camp at Hiranagar in Kathua district, Dr. Singh said the period has been marked by inclusive development, transparent governance, technological advancement and last-mile delivery of government schemes.
“From empowering the poor and farmers to strengthening India’s global standing, these years have laid a strong foundation for the vision of Viksit Bharat and created new opportunities for every citizen,” he said.
The minister highlighted several key initiatives undertaken by the Centre, including expansion of infrastructure, digital governance, financial inclusion, healthcare, education and rural development. He said these measures have ensured that development reaches even the remotest parts of the country.
Referring to Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Singh said the Union Territory has witnessed significant improvements in connectivity, public infrastructure, healthcare facilities, educational institutions and employment opportunities over the past decade. He added that centrally sponsored schemes have accelerated socio-economic growth and improved the quality of life of people across the region.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to the vision of a developed India by 2047, Dr. Singh urged citizens, particularly the youth, to actively contribute to nation-building efforts.
Earlier, the Union Minister attended a commemorative programme at Mela village in Hiranagar and paid tributes to late Amarjeet Sharma. He described Sharma’s sacrifice as a symbol of courage and patriotism and said it would continue to inspire future generations.
Dr. Singh also appreciated the support extended by local residents to security forces in preventing infiltration attempts along the International Border and emphasized the importance of national service and collective responsibility in strengthening the nation.
