Pulwama, Nov 21: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Pulwama, Waheed Ur Rehman Parra held a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of ongoing development projects in the district.
The meeting focused on ensuring that Pulwama’s economic, infrastructural and social needs are effectively addressed. It highlighted the critical role of grassroots engagement in governance.
During the meeting, Parra highlighted the importance of tailoring development policies to reflect local realities. “After the abrogation of Article 370, there is a growing risk of centralized governance losing touch with ground-level issues,” he said.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senior leader stressed the need for consistent communication between policymakers and local representatives to bridge this disconnect.
Several issues including challenges in agriculture, small businesses, and unemployment were discussed in the meeting, with a call for targeted initiatives to boost economic recovery.
Parra called for expediting pending road projects, improving healthcare facilities and addressing power and water supply issues. The meeting also called for ensuring social harmony and addressing community-specific concerns.
The MLA reiterated his commitment to ensuring that governance reflects the lived experiences of Pulwama’s residents rather than relying on abstract frameworks. “This meeting is a step toward ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and translated into actionable outcomes,” he said.
