Pulwama, Jan 15: The Deputy Commissioner of Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, announced on Tuesday that the Mission YUVA (Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan) baseline survey is underway to identify potential entrepreneurs in the district.
This flagship initiative by the Jammu and Kashmir government aims to foster entrepreneurship by creating 137,000 new enterprises across the union territory.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Qayoom said that the first phase of the scheme commenced with a door-to-door baseline survey, which began on January 1, 2025, covering all blocks and urban wards of Pulwama.
“The survey is progressing very well, and it aims to identify potential entrepreneurs while also building a comprehensive database of existing registered and unregistered entrepreneurs in the district,” he said.
Dr. Qayoom said that the programme’s objective is to support both potential and existing entrepreneurs by providing mentorship, training, and financial assistance.
“Through this programme, identified entrepreneurs will be registered and hand-held to develop their business ventures under Yuva Mission and other convergence programmes,” he added.
He further highlighted that small business development units would be developed in Pulwama, and help desks would be established to facilitate these enterprises.
The YUVA project approved by the government in August of the previous year is expected to create a conducive environment for entrepreneurship through a comprehensive set of interventions anchored around culture, capital, capacity and connectivity (4cs).
