Anantnag, May 13: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday stressed the importance of balanced education and moral values during his visit to the Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam institution in Anantnag after eight years.
Interacting with students at the school, Mirwaiz appreciated the role of the trust in providing affordable education to students from economically weaker sections and said education should focus not only on degrees and careers but also on character building and social responsibility.
He said “taleem and tarbiyat” must go hand in hand and emphasised the role of parents in ensuring the moral upbringing of children alongside formal education.
Mirwaiz said the institution, established in 1899, has continued its mission of providing education to all sections of society and noted that a large number of its students are first-generation learners from low-income families.
He also expressed grief over the recent fire incident at a Darul Uloom in Anantnag in which a student lost his life.
During his visit, Mirwaiz also inaugurated a business venture on K.P. Road and encouraged youth to pursue halal livelihood with honesty, dedication and hard work.
