In a tragic incident, a two-year-old girl drowned to death in a stream at Sunigam village of South Kashmiri’s Kulgam.
The deceased was identified as Zainab Zahid daughter of Zahid Ah Naiko, a resident of Sunigam.
The incident took place on Wednesday when the girl was playing in the frontage of her house with her father, who works as a driver.
A local resident Mushtaq Ah told Rising Kashmir that the girl’s father had returned home after weeks of work and was spending time with his daughter.
” However, he had to leave for some work and thought that his daughter had gone back inside the house. When he returned, he couldn’t find his daughter and started searching for her,” he said
Mushtaq said that after searching for nearly twenty minutes, the girl was found floating in the stream that flows through their frontage.
He said that minor girl’s body was retreived from the narrow stream and was immediately rushed to District hospital Kulgam hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The incident has left the entire village in shock and grief.
However an official told The Rising Kashmir that the death was accidental.
He confirmed that she drowned into the stream accidentally which was flowing through their native village.
