Minor girl drowns in Shopian

Shopian, June 09 : A minor girl died after drowning in a stream in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.
Local residents informed Rising Kashmir that Zoya Bilal, 16, daughter of Bilal Ahmad Dar died after drowning in a stream at Freeri Pora village of Shopian district.
Shaheem Ahmad, a local resident of Freeri Pora, said that he heard that the minor was playing in her courtyard.
He said that three streams run close to her house which converge into each other after some distance.
“Her body was retrieved from the stream at Lakhdipora around one and half kilometer from Feeri Pora,” he said, adding that it is evident that she drowned in one of the streams running close to her house.
Another resident said that the minor was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital but doctors were unable to resuscitate her and she was declared brought dead at the health facility.
