Kulgam, Feb 24: A girl child died in a road accident after being hit by a load carrier auto, here in Danew Kandi Marg (D K Marg) on Friday afternoon, officials said.
The five-year-old child has been identified as Zaira Hussain, daughter of Mohammad Hussain Shah, a resident of DK Marg Lalpora.
Immediately after the accident, she was taken to the nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
The driver surrendered himself to police after the accident, a police official said. “Police have taken cognizance of the accident. And after medico-legal formalities, she was handed over to the family,” a police official added.
