Militant hideout busted in Ramban, arms & ammunition recovered

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted militant hideout in Ramban and recovered huge cache of ammunition, explosive material in Ramban district.

 

 

 

A Police official said, “On 04-04-2023, an information was received through reliable sources regarding presence of caché of arms, ammunition and related material in the far flung hilly and forested area of tehsil Khari of District Ramban.”

 

 

“Acting swiftly on the input, a joint search operation of JK Police and 23 RR Army was launched in the forest area and suspected hideout locations were searched which continued till evening during which security forces busted a suspected militant hideout and Arms & ammunition among other things were recovered from the spot”, he said.

 

 

The Spokesperson said, “The details of arms/ammunition recovered are as follows: 7.62 MM Cartridges :-256, 7.62 MM Empty Cartridges:- 36, AK-47 Magazine:- 05, 9 MM Cartridges:- 34, 9 MM Empty Cartridges:- 01, 9 MM Empty Magazine:- 02, Pika Amn:- 02, Pika Empty Cartridges :- 16, Pika Belt :-01 52 MM Mortar :- 01 Detonator :- 04 Cordex :- 02 Ft, Knife :- 01, Lantern :- 0, Kerosene Lamp :- 01, Tape Recorder :- 01, Walkman with headphone:-01, Audio Cassette:-05, Itar:- 01, Watch:-01, Old Bags:- 02, LMG Amn Belt Box:- 01and Identity Card:-02.”

 

   ” In this regard, a case FIR no. 77/2023 u/s 7/25 Arms act and Sec 4 Explosives substnaces act has been registered at P/S Banihal and investigation has been taken up”, he said.

  

 

 The entire joint search operation of JKP and 23 RR was led by Major Mayank of 23 RR,police party of Police post Khari headed by PSI Rajnish Pangotra I/C PP Khari,SOG Banihal headed by Insp.Hargopal Singh,under the command of *Insp. Mohd Afzal Wani SHO P/S Banihal, under the supervision of DySP Pardeep Sen I/C SDPO Banihal with the overall supervision of Ms Mohita Sharma, IPS SP Ramban.
