MeT predicts two-day wet spell from Oct 19

Srinagar, Oct 16: The Meteorological Department (MeT) on Sunday predicted widespread rain in plains and light snowfall in higher reaches between October 19th night till October 20th in Kashmir, officials said.
Deputy Director of Indian Meteorological Centre Kashmir, Mukhtar Ahmad told Rising Kashmir they were expecting light snowfall in higher reaches and widespread rains in plains from Wednesday evening (October 19th) till next Thursday afternoon in the region.
Mukhtar said in the coming days there will be a slight decrease in day temperatures in the Valley and evenings will be colder.
“There is no forecast of any major snowfall for the next 10 days in J&K and Ladakh,” he said.
Srinagar had 7.2, Pahalgam 2.7, and Gulmarg 4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature today.
On Sunday, Srinagar recorded 27.3 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature stayed at 7.2 degrees Celsius.
Ski-resort Gulmarg in Baramulla district recorded 17.5 degrees Celsius maximum temperature while the minimum temperature recorded here was 4.0 degrees. It was the coldest place in Kashmir.
Health resort Pahalgam recorded 22.6°C, and Qazigund 26.5°C.
Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded maximum temperatures of 27.0 °C, while minimum temperatures there settled at 4.7 °C.
Jammu recorded a low of 18.0°C against 17.7°C the previous night. It was below normal for J&K’s winter capital, the official said.
Banihal recorded a low of 6.4°C, Batote 10.2°C, Katra 16.2°C and Bhadarwah 8.0°
