MeT predicts rain, snow in J&K from today

The Meteorological Department on Sunday forecast rain or snow in Jammu and Kashmir as the weather remained cloudy during the last 24 hours.

 

 

 A Meteorological official said that fresh Western Disturbances likely to affect J&K and adjoining areas from today late afternoon.  

 

 

“Under the influence of above system, Widespread light to Moderate Snow in plains/Rain( in Jammu) & moderate to heavy snowfall over middle reaches and higher reaches with heavy to very heavy over higher reaches of Pirpanjal, South Kashmir, Doda-Kistawar etc. most likely during tonight to tomorrow afternoon and gradual decrease thereafter.(>75% ๐™˜๐™๐™–๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™š)”, he said.

 

An Official said, “On 31๐™จ๐™ฉ: Cloudy with Light Snow/Rain at isolated to Scattered places. 1st -4th February: Partly Cloudy weather is expected till evening of 4th February.”

 

๐™’๐™–๐™ง๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œโš ( ๐ŸŸก ๐™๐™š๐™ข๐™–๐™ž๐™ฃ ๐™๐™ฅ๐™™๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š๐™™) :

1. May cause Snow Avalanche in Avalanche prone areas during above period. 

2. May affect Surface & Air transportation on 30th.

3. May affect power supply. 

 

๐˜ผ๐™™๐™ซ๐™ž๐™จ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ฎ:

1. People are advised NOT to venture out in Avalanche prone areas, unless emergency. 

2. Intending passengers are advised to travel after confirmation of road status from concerned Traffic Police.
