Srinagar, Oct 25: The Meteorological Department (MeT) Tuesday predicted the possibility of rain in plains and snow in middle and higher reaches during November2nd to November 6th in the Kashmir region, officials said.
Deputy Director MeT, Mukhar Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that as per the current analysis, in the first week of November, there is a possibility of rain in plains and light snow over middle and higher reaches of Valley.
“From 2nd to 6th November, the weather will remain mostly erratic in Kashmir. During the period, there is a possibility of rain in plains and snowfall in upper reaches of the region,” he said.
Mukhtar said in the coming days, there will be a slight decrease in day temperatures in the Valley and evenings will be colder.
On Tuesday, Srinagar recorded 21.4 °C as the maximum temperature while its minimum temperature recorded was 4.8°C. Likewise, the maximum temperature of Ski-resort Gulmarg recorded was 12.0 °C , while its minimum temperature stayed at 1.8°C only. It was the coldest place in Kashmir.
Health resort Pahalgam recorded 18.6 °C as its maximum temperature while its minimum temperature stayed at 0.6 °C degrees.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 21.2°C and 3.4° C as maximum minimum temperatures respectively.
Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded 21.9 °C and 3.0 °C as maximum and minimum temperatures respectively.
Last week, higher reaches of Kashmir, including popular tourist destinations like Gulmarg, Sonamarg received snowfall while the rains were witnessed in plains which brought wintry conditions earlier than usual in the valley.
The sudden dip in temperature forced people to immediately switch to their winter gear like sweaters and heavy jackets.
However, on the flip side of it, the early snowfall brought cheer to the faces of tourists who had arrived in Kashmir.
