Meri Maati, Mera Desh: Police organise Tiranga rally, plantation drive in Shopian, Sopore

Srinagar, Aug 10: Police on Saturday organised a series of events in Shopian and Sopore as part of the ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign. These initiatives included a grand Tiranga rally and a plantation drive, highlighting the importance of national unity and honouring the sacrifices of the country’s martyrs.
In Shopian, the Tiranga rally was conducted under the direction of SSP Shopian, Tanushree. The event saw active participation from the District Police Shopian in collaboration with the Civil Administration of the District Shopian. The rally was led by ASP Shopian, ADC Shopian, DySP Hqrs Shopian, DySP OPS Keller, DySP DAR DPL Shopian, and SHO PS Shopian. Students from various schools also joined the rally, which commenced at the Sports Stadium Batapora and concluded at the DPL Shopian.
“At the rally’s conclusion, participants pledged to contribute to building a developed India, eliminate traces of a colonial mindset, uphold national unity, fulfill their duties towards the nation, and honour the sacrifices of the country’s brave hearts,” a police spokesperson said in a statement issued here
As part of the ongoing “Aek Ped Shaheed Kay Naam” campaign, a plantation drive was conducted at the District Police Office/District Police Lines in Shopian. SSP Shopian planted saplings of various species in memory of the Police Martyrs of District Shopian. DySP Hqrs Shopian and other police officers and officials also participated in this drive.
In Sopore, a similar plantation drive was organized by the Sopore Police in collaboration with the Social Forestry Department Range Sopore Division Baramulla. The event took place at the District Police Lines Sopore and was attended by SP Sopore, Divya D, along with DySP DAR Sopore, NOKs (Next of Kin) of Police Martyrs, and other officers and officials of the Sopore Police.
