Bandipora, Oct 12: To mark 75 years of India’s Independence under ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, Municipal Council (MC) Bandipora and Municipal Committee (MC) Hajin Thursday organised ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ in their respective MCs.
The Chairman MC Bandipora Basharat Najar flagged-off the yatra in the presence of Executive Officer (EO) Aijaz Ahmad Khan. Chairman MC Hajin flagged-off the Yatra at Hajin in presence of EO, Firdous Ahmad.
Among others, the yatras were attended by municipal councilors besides residents of the respective MCs.
During the Yatra soil, rice was collected in Amrit Kalash from every ward. The Amrit Kalash was later transported to district headquarters Bandipora.
A similar Yatra was carried out by MC Sumbal, wherein people besides officials participated.
