Ganderbal, Sept 19: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), in collaboration with KASHMER (Kashmir American Society of Healthcare, Medical Education & Research) and KPVT (Kashmir Poor Voluntary Trust), organized a mental health awareness programme at the Faculty of Fisheries, Rangil, Ganderbal, on Thursday.
The event, titled “Building Resilience: A Community United Against Mental Health Struggles and Drug Abuse”, was presided over by Dean of Faculty of Fisheries, Prof. Farooz Ahmad Bhat. In his inaugural address, Prof. Bhat emphasized the importance of mental health for the holistic development of students, aligning with SKUAST-K’s mission of improving the “Quality of Life.”
Dr. Syed Riyaz, Project Head at KASHMER, provided an overview of the programme’s objectives, highlighting the contributions of KASHMER and SKUAST-K in societal development. He encouraged active participation in social work to further their shared vision.
Expert sessions were conducted by Dr. Mohd Muzaffar Khan, Miss Aarifat Rashid, and Adil Rashid, who interacted with students on mental health awareness. The event saw participation from faculty heads, students, and NSS volunteers.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to apply the knowledge gained in daily life. Dr. Mudasir M Kirmani, Student Welfare Officer at the Faculty of Fisheries, coordinated the event, while Dr. Shabir A Dar delivered a vote of thanks to the experts, participants, and SKUAST-K employees.
