Kanpur, Feb 18: Uttar Pradesh were 90/3 in their first essay against Jammu and Kashmir’s first innings total of 216 runs as Arnav Gupta scored fifty on the bowlers’ dominated day-1 of the Men’s U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy at Green Park Stadium Kanpur on Sunday.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K scored a modest total of 216 runs in their first innings. 
 
Arnav Gupta showed stellar grit and tenacity to notch up a magnificent half-century, scoring 62 runs off 75 balls, studded with 9 boundaries and 2 sixes, while consistent Yawer Hassan contributed 48 runs off 63 balls with 8 boundaries. Mujtaba Yousuf (30), Govind Sharma (29) and Janib Javaid (20) were the other contributors.
 
Prashant Veer and Rohit Dwivedi captured 3 wickets each for Uttar Pradesh, while Kunal Tyagi and Vipraj Nigam  claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Uttar Pradesh were 90/3 in 35 overs at stumps on day-1 today.
Parth Jain (45) and skipper Sameer Rizvi (32) were at the crease. Jain faced 105 balls and hit 7 boundaries, while Rizvi faced 59 balls and struck 3 fours.
 
For J&K, Basit Bashir, Mujtaba Yousuf and Vishal Kumar claimed one wicket each.
