Ganderbal, Sept 19: In a significant step towards promoting voter awareness and encouraging electoral participation for the ongoing 2024 assembly elections, the district administration of Ganderbal, in collaboration with the Department of Education and the Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA), organized a mega SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) program in Sonamarg. The initiative, supported by various departments, aimed at providing voters with crucial information about the electoral process to empower them for active participation in the elections.

The event witnessed the presence of both the General Observer and the Police Observer, alongside a strong representation from several key departments including the Sonamarg Development Authority, the Forest Department, the Forest Protection Force, the Health Department, and the Sonamarg Police along with Stakeholders, Beopar Mandal Sonamarg, and Hoteliers. Their joint efforts underscored the importance of community involvement in the democratic process. Adding to the event’s vibrancy was the participation of students from various public and private schools, reinforcing the significance of youth engagement in shaping the region’s electoral future.

Participants were urged to recognize the value of their voting rights and the role they play in determining the future trajectory of the region. The initiative received widespread appreciation from both local residents and tourists, helping to foster a sense of unity and responsibility among the community.

A variety of engaging activities such as a horse-riding rally, street performances, and cultural shows were also organized to spread voter awareness. The SVEEP team played an active role in disseminating messages about the importance of voting, emphasizing widespread participation in the upcoming assembly elections.

Concluding the event, the SVEEP team extended their gratitude to all participants, government departments, and volunteers for their contributions to the success of this significant awareness initiative.
