Meet Pioneer Lenswoman Changing the Narrative in Sopore

Insha Manzoor, a pioneer in Sopore, who has made her mark as the the first wedding female photographer from the north Kashmir’s Sopore town rewriting norms and breaking barriers, captivating audiences with her unique perspective.
 
At the age of 21, Insha, currently working with JB Studio, is pursuing her BBA at Baramulla College.
 
A resident of Sopore town in north Kashmir, Insha’s journey into the world of photography began in the 8th grade when she started capturing her school days and nature moments with an Android phone.
 
Insha’s talent quickly gained recognition as she actively participated in photography contests, earning accolades for her distinctive perspective.
 
Supported by her parents, especially her sister, Insha’s passion flourished. Insha aspires to delve into filmmaking after completing her Bachelor’s degree.
 
Despite her current use of a phone for photography, Insha’s work has made waves on Instagram, with millions of views on her reels and a substantial following of 6666 users.
 
Insha, characterized by her humility, uses her platform to showcase the beauty of North Kashmir, expressing her determination to continue shedding light on her parents and the entire Kashmir region.
 
In 2018, Insha was recognized as the most Promising Video Journalist at an event called Vox Populi- A Debating Phenomenon held in Jammu. Her participation in the Baramulla Photography Contest in 2023, held by district administration reflects her commitment to honing her craft.
 
Currently utilizing a Sony A7 III, Insha’s decision to pursue photography professionally is applauded by her friends, given her passion and creativity in the field.
 
A friend of Insha said that she can be seen in wedding ceremonies holding the camera among the large gatherings which makes her none less than a celebrity.
 
“Her work speaks and people feel proud about it. I feel proud about my friend Insha,” she added.
 
Insha told Rising Kashmir that her future plans include making a mark in the realms of film making and photography.
 
Insha attributes her success to her mentor, Junaid Bhat, acknowledging him as her guide who played a crucial role in her learning journey.
 
Insha Manzoor is not just a photographer; she’s a visionary capturing the essence of Sopore through her lens, breaking stereotypes and paving the way for aspiring photographers in the region.
