Srinagar, December 5: The Srinagar mayor and the principal secretary of the Housing and Urban Development department on Monday kick-started “My Town, My Pride” 2.0 in SK-park Srinagar.
During this program, Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu and Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Department J&K, Dheeraj Gupta, started many programmes for the city’s residents.
The programme under the banner “My Town, My Pride” was organised by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, and the event was attended by a large number of government officials and the general public.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Aijaz Assad, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Commissioner SMC (Additional Charge), VC, and LCMA were also present during the launch of the events.
During the program, Gupta interacted with corporators, frontline government functionaries, members of NGOs, and prominent citizens. The city mayor and Gupta also inspected about 30 stalls set up by different departments for on-site delivery of services and inaugurated a plantation drive in the park launched by DFO Urban Forestry and DFO LCMA.
Earlier in the program, Junaid Azim Mattoo and the Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Department J&K, distributed letters, cheques, and certificates among beneficiaries under various schemes. They also visited GantaGhar, Polo View, Jhelum Bund ABC, ARV CenterTengpora, and Community CenterBatamaloo and took detailed stock of the ongoing projects in these areas.
Later in the day, a “NukkadNaatak” was organized to spread the public service message, and an open discussion on “NashaMukt and BhrastachaarMukt J&K” was also organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K.
Mayor Srinagar and the Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development also visited Kothibagh Higher Secondary School and took a pledge for “NashaMukt Kashmir” along with students, teachers, and invited dignitaries present during the pledge-taking ceremony. After the pledge-taking ceremony, Mayor Srinagar and Principal Secretary HUDD inaugurated a volleyball match and a basketball match in the school.
They also inspected various projects undertaken under Smart City and conducted spot checks on the status of the ongoing projects being developed under Smart City at Ghanta Ghar and Residency Road.
Along with Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Commissioner SMC/VC, LMCA, Mayor Srinagar, and Principal Secretary HUDD, I also visited the parking complex at the press enclave and took a detailed review of the works undertaken.
The two-day programme was simultaneously launched by the corporation from different locations across the city. A number of designated dignitaries, concerned officials from various departments, and the general public attended these programs.
