Srinagar, Feb. 1: The administration on Thursday said that they have successfully cleared the majority of roads in the Kashmir Valley after the recent snowfall.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, speaking with Rising Kashmir said a meeting was held today to review the post-snowfall situation, and he is closely monitoring the developments.

Bidhuri assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure hassle-free services for the people, stressing that they won’t let the residents suffer. He stated that both manpower and machinery are on alert.

In terms of power supply, the Principal Secretary of the Power Development Department, H. Rajesh Prasad, informed Rising Kashmir that there has been no change in power supply, maintaining the pre-snowfall level of 1800 megawatts.

Despite some issues in the network, Prasad highlighted that the dedicated team promptly addressed all faults, and efforts are underway to restore any damaged lines.

Addressing concerns about specific areas facing issues, Principal Secretary PDD acknowledged potential challenges while highlighting that the overall demand-supply situation remains unchanged.
A senior government official added that, except for snowbound areas, major roads have been prioritized and are now open. Inner-link roads are expected to become operational soon.

The officer stated that some roads leading to snowbound areas were also closed by the administration post-snowfall as precautionary measures. These roads will be operational after the weather improves.

The Divisional Commissioner had earlier reported the deployment of 282 snow clearance machines to efficiently clear the roads across the Kashmir Valley. The Kashmir Valley has been witnessing heavy snowfall for the last two months after a two-month prolonged dry spell.
