Massive search op in Udhampur village following suspicious activity

Srinagar, Oct 16: Security forces in Udhampur district launched a major search operation on Thursday after receiving reports of suspicious terrorist movement in the area, officials said. The operation comes amid rising concerns over continued terrorist activity in the Dudu-Basantgarh region. According to the police, the operation was initiated following information from local residents about unidentified individuals entering a house in Kirchi village, located in the Latti-Dudu area. The suspects reportedly fled the scene with some cash, prompting immediate action by the security forces. A police official said that a massive search operation is underway with full coordination between the army, paramilitary forces, and local police. Security forces are combing the area to trace the suspects and ensure safety in the region,” he said. Meanwhile, forces have warned the local population to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity. “Residents are requested to share information about unusual movements or strangers in their vicinity. Community cooperation is vital for maintaining law and order,” he said. The official said efforts are being made to ensure that all precautions are in place to avoid any civilian harm during the search operation. “This is a precautionary and proactive measure in response to credible information about suspicious activity. We are leaving no stone unturned in tracking the individuals involved and preventing any untoward incidents,” he added. The Dudu-Basantgarh area has witnessed recurring incidents of terrorist activity over the past several months. Sources said that reports indicate that terrorist groups have been attempting to infiltrate and create unrest in the region. Security agencies have maintained heightened surveillance and regularly conducted search and cordon operations to curb such threats. Meanwhile, additional checkpoints have been established across strategic locations in the district to monitor movements and strengthen security.
