Massive fire doused in Bandipora forests

Bandipora, Apr 14: A massive fire erupted in the forests of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday evening, decimating the verdant flora and fauna dwelling in the area.

As per the details available with The Rising Kashmir, the fire engulfed several hectares of land in compartment six of Bandipora forest range , situated in the upper reaches of Badayra Ashtangoo, causing significant damage.

Eyewitnesses told Rising Kashmir that upon learning of the fire, officials promptly responded in an effort to contain the blaze.

They said that the scale of the fire was so massive that it exceeded their abilities, prompting a group of volunteers to step in and assist with extinguishing it.

Locals however expressed their deep concern about the extent of the damage caused by the fire.

The need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future and called for more awareness campaigns on the importance of preserving our natural resources, Mohd Hussain a local told Rising Kashmir.

Mohd Hussain, a local, emphasized the urgency for increased vigilance to avert similar incidents in the future. He also advocated for an escalated awareness campaign to enlighten the masses about the significance of conserving our natural resources.

A senior citizen teacher by profession expressed admiration for the volunteers who worked to extinguish the fire, describing their efforts as commendable.

He went on to note that their dedication to preserving natural resources serves as a source of inspiration for all. The teacher stressed that it is crucial for all of us to collaborate to prevent future incidents and safeguard the environment for generations to come.

Mudasir Mehmood, District Forest Officer Bandipora told Rising Kashmir that the teams of forest department were soon deputed after receiving inputs of forest fire.

The fire was brought under control with swift and timely action by the forest guards with minimum damage to flora and fauna, he added.
