Srinagar, June 15: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader and Member Parliament Anantnag Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi on Thursday proposed a coherent plan to tackle the rampant rise of drug addiction cases in Kashmir.
In a detailed interaction at Government Degree College (Boys) at Anantnag, Masoodi proposed an action plan titled ‘War Against Drug Abuse (WADA)’ which is aimed to tackle the rising cases of drug addiction among the young, a party statement issued here said.
Among those who were present at the occasion included Principal GDC, Youth National Conference DP Anantnag Syed Saba Shafi, and YNC functionaries Aquib Mushtaq. The interaction was facilitated by youth leader Bilal Itoo.
Expressing concern over the rampant use of opioids among the youth, Masoodi said, “The figures released recently by IMHANS are terrifying. If we don’t do anything seriously to stop this menace, we are at risk of losing an entire generation to these drugs.”
On the occasion, Masoodi reiterated that his resolve to fight this menace is strong and that he would use every available platform to fight and defeat those who are hell-bent to crush the future of our promising youth. The participants were unanimous in their resolve to tackle and stop the drug menace among the Kashmiri youth, the statement said.
