Baramulla, Nov 23: Baramulla Police on Thursday exposed a marriage scam, resulting in the arrest of two fraudsters.
A police officer said that the investigation was triggered by an application received from Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Dessa Doda, currently residing in Srinagar, who reported being duped by Mohammad Qasim Bhat of Gund Ibrahim, Trikolbal Pattan.
According to the complainant, Qasim Bhat fraudulently obtained Rs 1,50,000 from him under the guise of marriage.
“Additionally, the victim alleged that the accused threatened him with severe consequences when approached for the recovery of the amount,” the police official further said.
The case prompted the registration of an FIR under relevant sections of the law at the Pattan Police Station, initiating a thorough investigation.
The Police Post Mirgund swiftly mobilized its team, resulting in the apprehension of the primary accused, Mohammad Qasim Bhat, and his accomplice brother, Nisar Ahmad Bhat.
“Both suspects have been taken into custody and transferred to the Police Station Pattan,” the police official further said.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities delve deeper into the intricate details of the case.
