Samba, July 03: Apni Party provincial president Jammu and former minister S Manjit Singh on Monday demanded 24×7 electricity supply in the district amid the soaring temperature of summer.
The former minister, as per the party statement, was addressing a workers’ meeting in the Rahya area of the Samba district where people highlighted their day-to-day issues regarding unscheduled power cuts, irregular drinking water and growing concerns about delayed developmental projects.
While speaking on the occasion, Singh expressed his anguish over the underdevelopment and poor basic amenities in Rahya area. “The huge population is left without development and facilities which are necessities of one’s life,” he said while saying the unscheduled power cuts have put normal life out of gear. He said that continuous long hours of power cuts when the temperature is soaring have added to the people’s miseries.
Meanwhile, Manjit Singh appealed to the people that they should extend their support to the Apni Party because of its “developmental agenda that favours all the people irrespective of regional or religious identity”. “Apni Party is committed for equitable development, protecting natural resources, employment, and land for the locals of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
“Apni Party has received an overwhelming response for its agenda of development and peace. “The people are fed up with the traditional political parties. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the party workers, and leaders to educate people about the policy of the Apni Party that is focused to bring Jammu and Kashmir on the path of development, peace, and prosperity with representation from all sections of society,” he added.
Manjit Singh also referred to the “under-development and water crises” in the Kandi belt and demanded that the government should address the issues before it is too late. “The gap between the public and the administration has widened and it should be filled by holding assembly elections. With the elected government in place, the public issues can be addressed by the elected representatives and the babus can be pulled up for their delaying tactics, and there will be accountability in the government which is missing now,” he said.
