A 2-year-old man was successfully rescued after 10 long hours of falling into a 40-foot deep well in Kunzer Tangmarg, Baramulla district on Thursday.
Locals told Rising Kashmir that the incident occurred when Bashir Ahmad Rather, resident of Dhobiwan Barzulla in Kunzer Tangmarg went inside the well to fix a malfunctioning motor.
According to locals, a stone slipped under his feet, causing him to fall into the well. Simultaneously, a part of the well collapsed, burying him beneath it.
Upon learning about the incident, a joint rescue operation was initiated by locals, police, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to extricate the man from the water source.
The family, along with the community members, fervently engaged in the rescue mission.
An SDRF official informed Rising Kashmir that after an exhaustive 10-hour operation, the man was successfully rescued from the well.
“It is nothing short of a miracle. Despite sustaining injuries, he responded well throughout the operation,” the official stated.
The rescue operation was completed around 7:15 pm.
Local residents expressed gratitude for the efforts of the SDRF, police, and medical teams involved in the daring rescue operation.
Meanwhile, the rescued man was shifted to a local hospital for immediate treatment.
