Budgam, Nov 22: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that they have solved the murder case by arresting the brother of the deceased for his involvement in the commission of crime which occurred in the Sail village of the Beerwah tehsil in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
A police official said that on 20th December, the Police Station Beerwah has received information that a dead body of a labourer Sameer Ahmad Rather, aged between 18 and 19 years, in the Sail village of the Beerwah tehsil is lying behind his residence. A police team from the Police Station Beerwah along with FSL teams reached the spot and after all legal formalities,
investigation was initiated.
“During investigation, several suspects were called in for questioning including the family members of the deceased. During questioning, Aqib Ahmad Rather, brother of deceased Sameer Ahmad Rather confessed his involvement in the commission of crime,” official said.
He said that Aqib revealed that a confrontation between the brothers took place during the intervening night of 19-20th of November 2023, resulting in Sameer’s death. Father and sister of the deceased also admitted his involvement by providing details about Aqib Ahmad’s role.
He was arrested and a thorough investigation was conducted, leading to the recovery of essential evidences including the weapon of offence used by Aqib to assault his brother Sameer.
Regarding the incident, a case vide FIR No. FIR No. 143/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation is in progress.
