Baramulla, June 26: The Baramulla Police on Monday arrested a man and recovered 380 counterfeit gold biscuits from his possession. The accused was identified as Javid Ahmad Dar from Khanpora Baramulla.
A police official said that during a routine naka checking at Khanpora Bridge, the suspect was apprehended while attempting to flee from the scene.
“He was apprehended and 380 counterfeit gold biscuits weighing a total of 380 grams were found from his possession,” he added.
Under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Altaf Ahmad, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarters Baramulla, and with the assistance of Inspector Vilayat Ahmad, Station House Officer of Baramulla Police Station, the alert naka party tactfully captured the suspect as he attempted to evade arrest upon sighting the checkpoint.
“A thorough personal search of Javid Ahmad Dar led to the discovery of 380 fake gold biscuits, each weighing 1 gram,” police said.
The counterfeit gold was promptly seized by the police, and the suspect was taken into custody.
Authorities have registered a case against Javid Ahmad Dar under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Baramulla Police Station.
“The investigation into the matter has been initiated to determine the source and purpose of the fake gold biscuits,” police further said.
Local residents have praised the swift action taken by the Baramulla Police, expressing their confidence in the law enforcement agencies to tackle such instances effectively.
