Baramulla, Sep 25:  The grooming industry in Kashmir is getting a makeover, earlier local barbershop with posters of film stars were a norm but with unisex salons on a rise the trend is completely changing.
One such unisex salon ‘Black Unisex Salon’ in Sopore is talk of the town.
“Black Unisex Salon” the newly opened beauty salon in main market Sopore is a well-developed space with a lounge room and state of the art facilities for both men and women.
The ‘Black Unisex Salon’ is run by Momina Hamid Malik, besides being renowned make-up artist.
Talking to Rising Kashmir Momina said, “We use only authentic international products. We want to give special treatment to all our clients.”
She added that hair stylists for men and women have separate rooms and separate waiting areas with quality services.
Momina said that her main motive to set up the unisex salon in main town Sopre is to provide quality services related to bridal makeup, nail Extensions, Hair Extensions, head and foot massage, skin health, facial aesthetics, foot care, nail manicures, hair spa, hair color, hair cutting and straightening, and other services.
“While visiting brides for special make up, they motivated me to set up a salon on modern lines. Girls were visiting Srinagar salons for special treatment to their hair and skin as it wasn’t available anywhere here in north Kashmir. After that only I started the salon and the response is incredible,” she added.
Watching the better services, the clients from Baramulla, Sopore, Ganderbal, Srinagar and nearby places visit Black Unisex Salon in Sopore.
The salon has shower facilities and a wide-open lounge to enjoy a refreshing cup of tea or coffee.  There is also a lounge room for those waiting for their turns or friends. Once you enter the place, one can feel the sense of calmness with its beautifully arranged frames of painting and decor.
The six expert employees at Black Unisex Salon have around 15 years of experience providing services like nail extensions, hair extensions, micro blading, Nanoplastia treatment- a Japanese technology that restores damaged hair strands, smoothing them and eliminating curls, leaving them smooth and shiny for 6-12 months by using natural ingredients.
Momina is providing free of cost services to orphan brides and needy girls based on their economic conditions.
“It can’t be free for all but for economically weaker girls there is a 30 percent discount while for those orphan girls who can’t afford bridal makeup, we provide them all the services free of cost,” she said.
Momina said that the youth of Kashmir can do wonders but they have to explore new opportunities and avenues.
“Apart from being a successful makeup artist as I am watching my business grow, I want to explore more rural towns to set up new branches of black unisex salon so that people from rural areas can have the best services in their home towns.”
“My advice to the youth of Kashmir is to explore new avenues and start earning a good life,” she added.
