JAMMU, Sep 06: In a major success, the security on Wednesday gunned down two terrorists who were trying to infiltrate into the Indian side from across the border in Mani Sub Sector of Poonch District in Jammu region.
“The body of one terrorist has been recovered, while the search for another is going on in the dense forests and hostile terrain,” Jammu based Defence PRO, Suneel Bartwal told Rising Kashmir.
The war like stores were also recovered by the security forces near the body of terrorist.
“On the intervening night of September 5 and 6, two terrorists were observed crossing the Line of Control (LoC) in Mandi Sub Sector of Poonch,” the Defence PRO said, while adding, “The Army and the JKP immediately launched a joint operation to intercept the terrorists”.
Heavy exchange of fire started from both sides as the terrorists were challenged by the security forces. “Taking advantage of dense forest cover, hostile terrain and steep gradient, the terrorists fired heavily on the security forces,” the Defence PRO said, while adding, “In the ensuing gunfight, both the terrorists were eliminated”.
The body of one terrorist has been recovered, while the search for the body of another terrorist is going on. “The search operation to recover the body of second terrorist is still going on,” he said.
