Srinagar, Sep 29: District Administration Ramban on Thursday warned those not adhering to the lane driving discipline and said that for those indulged in the practice, registration of their vehicles will be cancelled.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam told Rising Kashmir that they have issued a warning specially to the passenger vehicles for not maintaining the lane discipline on the Srinagar Jammu National Highway stretch falling under their jurisdiction that the violating the lane driving severely hampers the smooth movement of traffic.
“RTO and J&K traffic police have already taken measures by identifying the vehicles indulged in violating the lane discipline and their registration has been canceled by the concerned authorities and they are no more eligible of plying their vehicles now”, DC Ramban Mr. Mussarat Islam said.
Earlier in the day the official Twitter handle of Deputy Commissioner, Ramban tweeted, “WARNING – Don’t jeopardize lives of patients, children and families travelling on National Highway-44 by lane crossing with impunity. You will be IDENTIFIED and acted against under law.”
In a response to a question over the deployment of more manpower on the highway in order to maintain lane discipline on stretches under their jurisdiction, DC Ramban said that a sense of discipline should come among those drivers who resort to indiscipline.
“Deploying more men or enforcement will be there, however, we are hopeful of witnessing a good lane driving discipline as deterrence cases have come up now, those indulging in the practice will be more careful now, and the traffic authorities and J&K police are also on ground as far as enforcement is concerned”, DC Ramban added.
In an appeal, DC Ramban Mussarat Islam also urged the passengers to desist the drivers from violating the lane driving discipline saying that they are going to take strict measures under relevant laws against the offenders found violating the lane driving discipline.
