Srinagar, October 10: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired the 35th University Council meeting of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Kashmir at Raj Bhawan today.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Advisor to the Lt Governor Rajeev RaiBhatnagar, Chief Secretary AtalDulloo, Principal Secretary of Agriculture Production Department Shailendra Kumar, Principal Secretary of Finance Department Santosh D Vaidya, and Dr. Ashok Dalwai, former CEO of NRAA. Also present were senior representatives from SKUAST Kashmir and Jammu, including Vice Chancellor Dr.Nazir A. Ganai (SKUAST-K) and Vice Chancellor Dr. BN Tripathi (SKUAST-J), as well as other senior officers, both in person and through virtual mode.
The University Council deliberated on significant policy matters and granted in-principle approval for various agenda points aimed at enhancing the university’s development and administrative operations.
Lt Governor Sinha underscored the importance of establishing a dedicated Seed Centre at the university to distribute quality seeds to farmers. He also encouraged SKUAST Kashmir to strengthen its outreach programmes, ensuring that innovations and technological advancements reach the farming community effectively.
During the meeting, Vice Chancellor Dr.Nazir A. Ganai presented a range of agenda items before the Council for approval and ratification, focusing on the continued growth and development of the university.
