Srinagar, Feb 24: Lieutenant MV Suchindra Kumar, Army Commander of the Northern Command visited Victor and Kilo Force to review the prevalent security situation in the Valley. He appreciated the operational readiness of the formations and urged all personnel to uphold the operational tempo.
Lt Gen Kumar was accompanied by 15 Corps Commander Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai. He visited Army’s two counter insurgency divisions, the south Kashmir based Victor Force and Shalteng based Kilo Force.
Army Spokesman revealed that during the visit to two divisions, the Northern Commander was briefed on counter terrorist grid, soldier citizen connect and operational preparedness.
He said on Friday, Lt. Gen also interacted with Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir Police RR Swain and senior officials of other agencies to discuss prevailing security situation and synergy for future operations.
He said discussion revolved around increased synergy and the security preparation for the coming months.
The spokesman said “Lt Gen Kumar visited Chinar Corps from 21-23 Feb and went to forward areas along Line of Control (LoC) to review the counter infiltration grid and ongoing CT operations in the hinterland. He was briefed on the latest operational preparedness and capability augmentation.
The spokesman said Northern Commander interacted with the troops and complimented them for their steadfastness in foiling infiltration bids along LoC.
The spokesman said during the visit, the Army Commander exhorted all ranks to remain focused on operational preparedness and continue working with utmost zeal and enthusiasm.
The Northern Command is responsible for guarding the country’s borders with Pakistan and China in the north, and is the nerve centre of counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
