Jammu, Apr 02: The Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) conducted a joint flag march in Samba district of the Jammu region today, in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Parliamentary elections.
Officials emphasized the significance of the flag march in instilling confidence among the residents, particularly in villages near the International Border such as Samba and Hira Nagar.
During the two-hour-long flag march, Jawans from both JKP and CAPF traversed different routes and markets of Samba, covering almost the entire town, to reach out to the community.
SSP Samba, Vinay Sharma, highlighted the aim of the joint flag march, stating that it aims to ensure confidence, security, and harmony in society, along with promoting free, fair, and fear-free elections. The march also encourages people to vote in large numbers without constraint or fear.
With the Parliamentary elections in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory scheduled in five phases, each covering one LokSabha seat, the flag march aims to enable every citizen to exercise their democratic right to vote freely.
The election schedule includes polling for the Kathua-UdhampurLokSabha seat on April 19th, Jammu-Reasi seat on April 26th, the newly created Rajouri-AnantnagLokSabha seat on May 7th, Srinagar seat on May 13th, and BaramullaLokSabha seat on May 26th.
