New Delhi, Mar 13: Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Jammu & Kashmir, Sunil Sharma called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
Sunil Sharma, a senior BJP leader, discussed with Home Minister the key issues of Jammu and Kashmir pertaining to security and development, and Budget Session in J&K Legislative Assembly.
Sharma in a statement issued here said Jammu and Kashmir has been a region of strategic significance and has faced numerous security and developmental challenges. “All these issues are deeply intertwined and require a rigorous multi-pronged approach by the Modi government,” he said.
The BJP leader also discussed the issue of recent terror incidents in the region with the Home Minister. He requested Shah to further increase the road connectivity to the remote areas of the region. He brought into notice various factors to facilitate the sustaining economic ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir by stressing the key areas like tourism, industry, and business, the statement said.
Sharma also highlighted the rise in drug abuse and narcotics trafficking in J&K, calling for urgent intervention. He also discussed with HM Shah the Budget session in J&K Legislative Assembly and its minute details. He highlighted the key points of discussions in the sessions and the impact of the budget on the socio-economic conditions of the residents and the ongoing development process in J&K.
After listening to the LoP Sharma, Home Minister assured him that peace and progress in Jammu and Kashmir will remain the Modi government’s top priority and that every step will be taken to ensure the socio-economic elevation of its residents, the statement added.
