Srinagar, Mar 22: The deputy commissioner of Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, stated on Friday that the border district of Kupwara has consistently shown a good turnout in both parliamentary and assembly elections, and this time, we also anticipate a high turnout in the LS elections.
Speaking with Rising Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara stated that to ensure a high voter turnout in the district, the administration is actively involved in voter awareness campaigns across the district. Awareness programs are also being conducted in various schools and colleges, and the booth-level committees have been activated.
Consequently, voters above the age of 18 will be able to register and participate in elections. Since the announcement of election dates, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has been enforced, and all necessary arrangements have been completed, which fall under the code. Additionally, several meetings have been conducted previously.
A recent meeting with all political parties aimed to ensure a fair and transparent election in the district, during which they were briefed on the guidelines to be followed. I urge the people, as well as all political parties, to adhere to the ECI guidelines. If the people and political parties adhere to the Election Commission of India’s guidelines, the elections will proceed smoothly.
The district administration is fully prepared to conduct smooth and violence-free elections. We are also involving political parties at every step to gain their confidence, whether it involves EVMs checking or any other election-related matters. Both SSPs are working on all security arrangements, and we already have a presence across the district.
We are hopeful that, like other parts of the valley, no untoward incidents will occur during the polling days. Urging first-time voters to cast their votes, she said, “I appeal to them since they are shaping the future of the country and the UT. It is essential for all of us to participate in these elections; this is the medium of their voices.”
