Kulgam, March 21: Residents are being imparted awareness about elections under SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) initiatives to promote electoral literacy in Kulgam.
According to an official, a plantation cum awareness drive was also held on Thursday at several locations in Kulgam.
Suhail Ahmad, Range Officer, Kulgam, told Rising Kashmir that the plantation cum awareness program aimed to inform citizens about their voting rights in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He said that some venues were selected by the district administration for this purpose, focusing on spreading awareness among students, locals, and others about the election process.
“The plantation drive also coincided with the distribution of plants among people on March 21, International Day of Forests, by Forest Range Kulgam,” he added.
He said that participants from various backgrounds and age groups took part in these programs and were educated about the electoral process.
