Srinagar, Apr 07:The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Law & Order in Jammu and Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, along with top officials, convened a crucial meeting in Kishtwar district to assess security measures for the forthcoming LokSabha elections, officials revealed.
Attended by ADGP Jammu Zone, Jammu Anand Jain, and Divisional Commissioner Jammu, the meeting aimed to scrutinize the law and order situation and election preparedness in Kishtwar, Doda, and Ramban district headquarters, as stated by a police spokesman.
ADGP Kumar emphasized the importance of maintaining a high state of vigilance and readiness to counter any potential security challenges. He stressed the significance of cooperation among law enforcement agencies to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
The commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to uphold democratic principles and provide a secure environment for voters, candidates, and election officials was reiterated by ADGP Kumar.
Furthermore, discussions revolved around security personnel deployment, establishment of checkpoints, and intensification of patrolling in sensitive areas to prevent untoward incidents.
Contingency plans and emergency response mechanisms were reviewed to ensure swift and effective action in security-related emergencies.
Inspecting the strong rooms designated for storing Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and reviewing their security, ADGP Kumar and senior officers also assessed camping locations of incoming troops and availability of basic amenities.
The meeting underscored the importance of close coordination with stakeholders to address logistical or operational challenges effectively.
Police affirmed its commitment to upholding professionalism and impartiality in ensuring free, fair, and peaceful elections in Kishtwar district.
