Pulwama: Residents of saffron town Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district demand parking facility for vehicles near sub district hospital (SDH).
The residents said that the SDH is located few meters from the National highway (NHIA) in Pampore near Government Higher Secondary School.
They added that the people park their private vehicles infront of SDH on the road used to access the hospital from NH1A.
Muneer Ahmad, a local resident of Pampore, said that as SDH Pampore has no parking facility, people routinely park their vehicles on the approach road infront of the hospital near its main gate.
“The parking of vehicles chokes the approach road due to which attendants face inconvenience in ferrying their patients into the hospital,” he said.
He also added that the congested approach road causes hindrance to the smooth movement of ambulances ferrying critical care patients to the hospital.
Mohammad Maqbool Shah, President, Idara Auqaf Islamia Trust ( IAIT) Pampore said that two emergency services, one ambulances ferrying critical care patients and other fire fighting tenders from nearby fire and emergency services station, get affected due to congestion on the approach road.
He said that they took up the matter with authorities multiple times.
He added that a patch of land near the hospital was identified for the parking facility.
“ Few private persons filed a civil suit. The court issued a stay order,” he said, adding that the patch of land is state land.
He said that a wrong mutation has been made in the revenue records concerning the patch of the land.
“Authorities need to rectify it,” he said, adding that it is state land not Maqbuza Ahle Islam (land under possession of local muslim auqaf).
Additional Deputy commissioner ( ADC) Awantipora, Zaffron Husson Shawl, said that the proposal of parking facility near SDH Pampore is under their consideration.
“ As a of now there is nothing which I can share with the press,” he said.
When asked about the proposal of turning a patch of land near SDH Pampore into parking facility, he added that the court has issued a stay on it.
“This is under our consideration, we have to see it,” he said.
