Srinagar, Sep 27: Residents of Shatgund Payeen in Mawer area of north Kashmir’s Handwara town on Tuesday expressed strong resentment against the authorities for failing to macadamize a road stretch in the locality despite the authorities’ flouting of a tender a month ago.
The irate resident told Rising Kashmir that “the roads in their neighborhood had recently been macadamized, and they couldn’t understand why a portion of a road was left unattended.
The people said the dilapidated condition of the street is giving people trouble as potholes have surfaced on the road at many locations.
The local Nazir Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that after hectic efforts, the department of Roads and Building (R&B) floated the tenders for the macadamizing of the road. However, the road is yet to be macadamized for reasons best known to them.
The inhabitants of the village have sought the probe into the delay in the blacktopping of the road despite the tenders being floated a month ago.
The people of this village have also urged the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to direct the concerned department to macadamize the road at the earliest.
Meanwhile, speaking to Rising Kashmir, the local District Development Council (DDC) member, Khurshid Ahmad Dar, assured that the road would be macadamized in the coming days.
