Srinagar, Oct 12: Srinagar has been witnessing a wave of excitement as the Legends League Cricket (LLC) League and Red Premier League (RPL) have brought sports fever to the Kashmir Valley.
Over the past few days, cricket enthusiasts from all over the valley have been flocking to the Bakshi Stadium to catch day-night matches, which are a rare spectacle in Kashmir.
The Legends League Cricket (LCC) League, currently underway at the Bakshi Stadium, is drawing crowds of young fans eager to watch their favourite stars, including former international cricketers, in action.
Spectators have been captivated by the chance to witness live matches, an opportunity many previously only experienced through television broadcasts.
Tahir Khan, one of the enthusiastic spectators at Bakshi Stadium, expressed his excitement, saying, “Earlier, we only watched these matches on TV, but seeing our favourite players live here in Kashmir is an entirely different experience. This has been made possible by the efforts of the government and the J&K Sports Council. Without them, this wouldn’t have happened.”
The infrastructure and pitch at Bakshi Stadium, managed by the J&K Sports Council, have been commended for allowing such high-profile tournaments to take place. Another spectator shared similar sentiments, appreciating the day-night matches that are now giving locals a fresh and exciting experience.
Javed Ahmed, another spectator at the stadium, noted the rarity of such sporting events in Kashmir, saying, “It’s hardly seen that we get day-night sports activities here. But thanks to the LCC League and Red Premier League, we are now enjoying night matches in Srinagar, and it’s refreshing.”
With the stadium packed and fans full of praise for both the Sports Council and the government, the ongoing LCC League and Red Premier League have not only brought excitement to the Valley but also showcased the potential of sports infrastructure in Kashmir.
These grand tournaments are attracting international cricket stars and offering local fans a thrilling live experience, setting a new benchmark for sports events in the valley.
