Jammu, Feb 29: In a proactive move towards addressing public grievances, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha engaged with citizens during the “LG’s Mulaqaat” Live Public Grievance Hearing programme held at the Civil Secretariat.
During the session, the Lt Governor diligently reviewed complaints registered on the JKIGRAMS portal and urged concerned Administrative Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners, and senior officials to furnish detailed action taken reports on public outreach initiatives. Emphasizing the essence of impartiality and efficiency, he directed officials to rectify shortcomings in outreach programs for better grievance redressal.
Highlighting the paramount importance of serving the common good, Lt Governor Sinha urged officials to execute decisions without bias, underscoring the need to enhance both physical and social capital.
“We should strive to improve public service delivery, expedite grievance resolution, and ensure transparent implementation of welfare schemes to empower citizens,” remarked the Lt Governor.
Addressing specific concerns raised by citizens, Lt Governor Sinha issued directives for the rationalization of teachers, particularly in remote schools, stressing the abolition of “Single Teacher Schools” across Jammu and Kashmir.
Furthermore, he directed efforts towards optimizing borewell and handpump functionality, enhancing power transmission and distribution infrastructure, and resolving issues related to LT Network and loose hanging electric wires.
Deputy Commissioners were tasked with prioritizing areas requiring intervention in power infrastructure under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
Responding to individual grievances, Lt Governor Sinha assured swift action, including the completion of the Girls Hostel near Higher Secondary School Pehlipora and the improvement of facilities at Bus Stand Jammu, as per the directives to concerned authorities.
Additionally, the Lt Governor addressed the dilapidated condition of the Sumb road, assuring prompt resolution under the supervision of the concerned Deputy Commissioner.
The proceedings of the LG’s Mulaqaat were conducted by Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar, Secretary of Public Grievances, with the presence of Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary Forests Dheeraj Gupta, Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, HoDs, and other senior officials, both in person and virtually.
