Jammu, Jan 9: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting today to evaluate the preparedness for the upcoming 4th Khelo India Winter Games, set to commence on February 2nd at Gulmarg.
Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary Youth Services and Sports, provided a detailed update on the progress of preparatory work carried out by the relevant departments during the meeting.
The Lt Governor emphasised the need for the timely completion of all tasks outlined in the action plans by the concerned departments. He stressed the importance of ensuring that all facilities meet international standards for a successful event.
Highlighting the transformative impact of previous editions of the Khelo India Winter Games on transforming J&K UT into a winter sports hub, the Lt Governor expressed the desire for this year’s event to be equally momentous. He called for collaborative efforts to showcase the region’s rich culture and warm hospitality to athletes and winter sports enthusiasts visiting from across the country.
The meeting delved into a comprehensive strategy for promotional campaigns, joint control rooms, Nodal officer deputations, traffic management, parking arrangements, lodging facilities, transportation, uninterrupted power and water supply, medical services, public utilities, and other essential amenities. The Lt Governor directed the concerned departments to ensure effective coordination for the seamless execution of the games.
Present in the meeting included Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor; Atal Dullo, Chief Secretary; Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor; along with senior officers from the Police and Civil administration, both in person and through virtual mode.
