The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Monoj Sinha has appointed all Station House Officers (SHOs), Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), and Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) (Headquarters) as Special Police Officers within their respective jurisdictions to enforce the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, aimed at curbing human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
According to a notification issued by the J&K Home Department, the appointments have been made under sub-section (1) of Section 13 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, superseding all previous notifications on the matter.
The notification states that all SHOs of J&K Police, not below the rank of Inspector, along with SDPOs and DySPs (Headquarters), will act as Special Police Officers in their respective areas to implement the provisions of the Act.
