Srinagar, May 10 : Manoj Sinha on Sunday handed over appointment letters to around 4,000 newly recruited constables of the Jammu and Kashmir Police during a ceremony held at the Armed Police Complex, Zewan in Srinagar.
The recruits were selected through a transparent and merit-based process conducted by the J&K Service Selection Board. LG Sinha congratulated them and asked them to serve with honesty, discipline, and full commitment to the nation.
He said joining the police is not just a job but a responsibility linked with a proud legacy of sacrifice. He said the peace and development seen in Jammu and Kashmir today are the result of the hard work and sacrifices of police personnel.
“The Jammu and Kashmir Police is a symbol of selfless service, duty, and trust. It has played a major role in maintaining law and order and fighting terrorism,” he said.
LG Sinha also said that modern security challenges are changing fast. He stressed that threats like cybercrime, narco-terrorism, digital fraud, and narrative warfare are now more dangerous than traditional weapons.
He said criminals and terrorists are now using technology, data, and encrypted systems to operate across borders. “These threats are not from the future; they are happening today and must be dealt with strongly,” he said.
He urged the police force to adopt modern technology, including Artificial Intelligence, and prepare a roadmap to make the force future-ready.
He also said that the complete elimination of terrorism and protection of citizens remains the top priority of the government.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, and other top officers attended the ceremony along with the families of the new recruits.
