Srinagar, Feb 18: In a recent episode of the public outreach programme ‘Awam ki Awaz’, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha praised the efforts of Shabnam Bashir, a tribal girl from Bandipora. Sinha commended Shabnam for her dedication to exploring offbeat destinations and reviving tribal culture.
Highlighting Shabnam’s commitment to tribal rights, Sinha emphasized the importance of promoting unique destinations in tribal regions to boost the local economy. He also lauded Shabnam’s Youth Engagement Program, aimed at promoting tribal culture among the younger generation and raising awareness about the harmful effects of drugs.
Hailing from the tribal area of Quil Muqam in Bandipora, Shabnam Bashir, a tourism student, expressed her childhood dream of bringing the unexplored tourist spots of her area to the limelight. Her trekking journey began in 2019 after analyzing the tourism potential of the region.
Utilising social media initially to showcase picturesque spots and attract attention, Shabnam expressed gratitude to LG Manoj Sinha for recognising her efforts in the ‘Awam ki Awaz’ program. She stated, “Having access to a platform where efforts are recognized is a great honor for us, as it encourages us to do even more.”
