SRINAGAR, Sept 07: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over the third Governing Body Meeting of Mission Youth at Raj Bhawan earlier today.
During the meeting, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, CEO of Mission Youth, presented an overview of significant self-employment initiatives planned for the Financial Year 2023-24. These initiatives aim to promote entrepreneurship among young individuals and help them realize their aspirations.
Key discussions during the meeting included achievements, action plans for FY 2023-24, targets, and the roadmap for various Youth Entrepreneurship Schemes.
The Lt Governor emphasized the importance of meeting the needs of young entrepreneurs, enabling them to contribute to society and achieve personal growth. He stressed the need for institutions, departments, financial support systems, and technological mechanisms to focus on supporting these young entrepreneurs.
The meeting also addressed topics such as the establishment and operation of District Youth Centres in all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir, career counselling, market-driven skill development programs, recreation facilities, social engagement, sports activities (including LG’s Rolling Trophy), Young Lawyer’s initiatives, exposure tours (Know India, Love India), awareness programs, youth innovation promotion, and inclusive youth engagement and outreach.
The Lt Governor directed the Department of Industries & Commerce and Mission Youth to collaborate in promoting start-ups and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among the youth.
“The convergent functioning of departments, banks, financial institutions, and higher educational institutions can help us achieve our targets and fulfill the dreams and aspirations of our youth,” the Lt Governor affirmed.
During the meeting chaired by the Lt Governor, the establishment of state-of-the-art libraries was approved, and it was decided to implement the AVSAR Program across all districts of the Union Territory.
Further discussions centered on “The Model Finishing School,” aimed at enhancing the employability of qualified youth under the Endeavour to Empower program of Mission Youth. The Lt Governor urged all stakeholders to actively contribute to the successful implementation of this initiative.
The meeting was attended by Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lt Governor; Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary; R.K. Goyal, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department; other members of the Governing Body; Administrative Secretaries; Heads of Departments; and senior officials, both in person and through virtual mode.
